SEW Hip! Strips & Bricks....the prequel

sew hip! 2010 challenge

With only 2 weeks to go before the start of my next 2010 SEW Hip! challenge (the Strips & Bricks quilt) I have been busy preparing the way.

I have read the instructions (all good), I have studied the photos (very nice) and I have a back-up plan (just in case).

I have even been shopping for fabric.

The Sew Hip! Strips & Bricks example is made up of "graphic prints, vintage textiles, Japanese cottons and some hand dyed pieces" all cleverly brought together to create a "scrappy, fresh and modern" look.

Fantastic!!...cool vintage prints..linen...sugar & spice...

Yeah I didn't get any of those - I have only got a very small budget for each of my SEW Hip! projects.

Vinnies - charity shop

After a bit of rummaging about in town and some hefty Google time I have decided that for MY Strips & Bricks I am going to use the sheets I found at Vinnies (my local charity shop) and some brightly fat quarters I bought online from Kelani Fabrics.

My SEW Hip! Strips & Bricks quilt will be more English country than Bauhaus but you know what?..I am okay with that.

Roll on February!!!
